AN ELIGANT INTERVIEW WITH MR. MATT SPENCER
My name is Matt Spencer and I started riding fixed near the end of 2007, so a little more than 3 years.
WHAT DREW YOU INTO FIXED ?
I used to race motocross and when I moved to the city I needed something to keep me busy. One day I was looking on craigslist for a road bike and just so happen to be a "track bike" listed and liked how clean and simple it was, and went and picked it up.
WHAT IS OUR FAVORITE THING AND THING YOU HATE MOST ABOUT RIDING ?
My favorite thing is probably riding around town and just jumping and tricking off things on the go. The thing I hate most is riding with people who take it to serious and can't get hyped on riding.
WHATS THE FUNNYEST THING THATS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU ON YOUR BIKE ?
Stopped at a light, then as it turned green went to crank through the intersection and my cog slipped and i flew over the handle bars in the middle of the street. :P
WHERES YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE PLACE THAT YOU HAVE TRAVELED TO LATELY ?
New York by far is the raddest place I have been. So many sick spots and so many cool people there. The worst place would have to be maybe Des Moines. Everyone looked like they wanted to fight us and it was too hot and humid for me.
YOUR A PRETTY QUITE GUY USUALLY , WHY IS THAT ?
I like my riding to speak for itself.
WHAT KIND OF STUFF DO YOU LISTEN TO WHILE YOUR RIDING ? OR WHAT PUMPS YOU UP THE MOST BEFORE YOU GO RIDE ?
I can't ever listen to music while trying to trick, can't keep focused. Pretty much the whole Mash SF sound track gets me pumped.
WHO OR WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES/INSPIRATIONS ?
Just people who do new and innovated things. Top 3 favorite riders that always get me pumped are probably Nasty, Antonyo, and Torey.
SO THAT SHOULD DO IT MAN ANY LAST SHOUTOUTS AND THANKS YOUS ?
Ride to have fun! I wanna thank Leader Bikes, Resist Parts, City Grounds, ThunderKill, Phoenix, and Fixed Cult for always having my back and hooking it up with the goods.
