FIXED CULT PRESENTS: . . .TALKATIVE TUESDAYS !!!

INTERVIEW WITH A SEAMOOSE : )

WHO ARE YOU ? AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INTO RIDING FIXED GEAR BIKES ?
Andrew Compton or Seamoose, I started riding fixed about 3 years ago when my friend max came back from Buffalo, NY with a conversion and Gus and I were riding it around his street trying to learn skids etc.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST BIKE ?
my first track bike was a murdered out Bianchi frame that someone in SF painted it to say "Gremlin Master" on the down tube. Wish I still had that thing!

THAT BIKE IS THE FIRST FIXED GEAR I EVER RODE TO ! INFRONT OF MY HOUSE WHEN I LIVED WITH FICK HAHA SO TELLS US THE LEGEND OF HOW OU BECAME KNOWN AS SEAMOOSE !
ooh god. Well I had a broken leg that was healing and a friend's dad randomly said "settle down seabiscuit" it made no fucking sense but everyone started calling me seabiscuit. Soon after that I went on a weekend tour with a friends band up to Redding and in the van everyone was calling me shit biscuit or seafuck you know different creative variations of my nickname.....and then the guitarist of the band (Big Bryan to be exact) was half awake and yelled shut the fuck up....SEAMOOSE and everyone got quiet and look at eachother like some sort of ancient riddle was solved. From then on I am now seamoose. That was what 3 years ago?

SO IVE KNOWN YOU FOR A VEEEERY LONG TIME . . SO FOR THOSE WHO HAVNT TELL US WHAT INSPIRES AND MOTIVATES YOU TO BE ANDY COMPTON
hahah that's a funny question I'll try to answer it, hmmm well I got back into skateboarding full force after I interviewed John Cardiel for Fast Pace. I still try to play as much music and write about as much music as possible. I recently moved just outside of Long Beach and I love it here.

I LIKE THAT ANSWER HAHA SO I KNOW YOU GOT FULLFORCE BACK INTO BEING A LITTLE SKATE RAT AGAIN . . HOW OFTEN DO YOU RIDE THSES DAYS ?
mmm well I got a job at Fuel TV and A lot of those guys ride so I'll go on small rides with them, and I'm probably going to meet up with Arthur after I'm done with this interview to ride around Long Beach. Maybe like twice a week? I do miss it though, I miss how simple it was to just get on a bike and go for a ride with friends. Which I guess it still is I just don't have as much time as I used to

WELL IM STOKED YOU STILL RIDE MAN CAUSE YOU GOT ME INTO THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE ! SO HOWS LIFE WORKIN AT FULE ? AND TELL US WHAT HAPPENED WITH FAST PACE ?
Fuel is great! I shot some photo's at the Vans Downtown Showdown yesterday and it was funny getting talked to and treated like I'm important haha. With Fast Pace I still love those guys I just felt like it was going in a different direction from when it originally started. The first issue was all cut and paste really DIY and it was fun. After that issue Rocco came along and it started to get more of a corporate feel to it which I kind of ignored and then hearing from different companies that helped me start FP from the beginning saying they don't like the way it's going and it seems like we don't care about the actual community I had to step back and realize, that is not why I started the magazine. I wanted to do it for fun, art and riding bikes. OH and everything fixed related at the time was really expensive. So I sold my share to Rocco and Gus. I still help them with the music write ups and support them. It just wasn't for me anymore.

WELL I RESPECT YOU FOR WALKING AWAY AND LETTING GUS AND ROCCO STILL DO THE ZINE . . SO YOUR VERY INTO MUSIC , WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN LISTNING TO THE MOST AS OF LATE ?
lately I've been really into Belle and Sebastian, Wild Nothing, Nu Sensae, Crystal Stilts, Captain Beefheart, Filth, PantfuckingTera, Morrissey (DUH), and the list goes on...

OK LAST QUESTION . . WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT , MORRISEY OR IAN CURTIS ?
hahahaha best question ever...um I think Ian Curtis. Just seems like he would annihilate which I hate admitting, but I don't think Morrissey is capable of beating anyone up.

HAHA I FIGURED YOU WOULD LIKE THAT ! OK DUDE WELL THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS INTERVIEW . . SHOUTOUTS AND THANKYOUS ?
yea lets see I have a list: Gus Molina, Arthur Wong, Congo and Beth, Matt Spencer, Skylar Chaput, Marwin, TJ the Mosh King...you, Family Time friends, Matt Draper, Matt Sharkey, That dude in Vegas outside of interbike that wanted to fight me because I was drunk and thought I was going to hit him with a sign, Sean, Basilio, Joe Kelley, Phil Rinthalukay, Max West, Tanner, John Cardiel and last but not least Cherry Park. Damn I love that place.

I love you all

JUST HAD TO THROW THE MOSH KING IN THERE DIDNT YA . .
